There are primarily three types of CNG kits commonly used for converting vehicles to run on compressed natural gas (CNG):

Sequential Injection System (Sequential CNG Kit): This type of CNG kit is the most advanced and widely used. It utilizes an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) to monitor and control the injection of CNG into the engine cylinders. The ECU ensures precise timing and appropriate fuel-air mixture for optimal combustion. Sequential CNG kits offer better fuel efficiency, smoother operation, and reduced emissions compared to other types.

Mixer System (Venturi CNG Kit): The mixer system, also known as the Venturi CNG kit, uses a venturi or mixer to blend CNG with the incoming air before it enters the engine. This type of kit does not employ an ECU and injects CNG into the intake manifold. Although it is simpler and less expensive than sequential kits, it generally provides lower performance and fuel efficiency.

Open Loop System (Conventional CNG Kit): The open loop system, also known as the conventional CNG kit, is the most basic and older type of CNG conversion kit. It operates based on a fixed flow of CNG into the intake manifold, independent of the engine’s air intake. It does not have an ECU and lacks precise control over fuel-air mixture. Open loop systems often deliver lower fuel efficiency and may have higher emissions compared to sequential or mixer systems.

It’s important to note that the availability and popularity of specific types of CNG kits may vary depending on the region and local regulations. Additionally, advancements in technology and the introduction of new systems may lead to the development of additional types of CNG kits in the future.
